Cheesemonger and maturing rooms

A cheese counter that writes to you about four things a month, and only four

A shop with its own maturing rooms that tells you when a cheese is ready rather than when it needs shifting.

The lists

Not signed in — ask about anything public, or sign in from the chat to see your own subscriptions.

What we send

Four things a month, and you choose which

Every list the counter writes, what is actually in it, how often it goes out and who it suits. The assistant changes your preferences from this same list.

Ready this week

The two or three cheeses that have come into condition in the maturing rooms, what they taste like now, and how long that window lasts.

A single recipe built around whatever is in condition, written for a weeknight rather than a dinner party.

Three things worth asking

Each one opens the assistant with the question already sent — you only wait for the reply.

How often do you email, and what exactly is in each one?

Answered from the published list catalogue through list_services — the same four things this page describes.

Keep the ready-this-week note but stop the recipes, please.

Opens the preferences form as a card in the chat, list and direction already chosen from what you said.

What's the difference between Board and Rooms, and can I pause either?

Answered from the published club terms via list_plans, including the pause and cancel rules.

HR-2204active

Subscribed — the weekly note about what has come into condition

Opened 41 of the last 44 sends. Last change: kept on 12 August.

HR-2205stopped

Unsubscribed at the subscriber's request

Stopped on 12 August, took effect on the 13th — the next send, as promised.

HR-2211active

Active while a Rooms club subscription is running

Runs with the club; stops by itself if the club is paused.

Signed in as the demo customer, the assistant reads these back through my_subscription. Signed out, it asks for a email address and the email it belongs to.

Change what you receive

Pick the lists you want. Unsubscribing takes effect on the next send, not in a fortnight. The assistant can open this same form for you — that is what open_desk_form does.

What is real here, and what is not

Hearth & Rind is a business invented for this page. Read this before you believe anything else on it.

Genuinely running

  • The assistant on this page is a live Busymate AI assistant, grounded in this site's own published pages.
  • The list catalogue, the clubs and the preferences come from this demo's own MCP server — real tool calls, not pasted text.
  • The page registers its own actions over WebMCP, so an agent can highlight a list or open the preferences form.
  • Signing in as the demo subscriber is a real identity hand-off: the assistant receives a name and an email address it never asked for.

Seeded, not connected

  • There is no Mailchimp audience behind this page. No preference set here reaches Mailchimp, and no email is added to or removed from any real list.
  • Hearth & Rind is an invented shop. The cheeses, dairies, clubs, prices, subscribers and preferences are fixtures written for this demo.
  • Preference changes made here live in memory until this demo restarts. Nothing is ever sent to any address.

The Mailchimp connection is on the roadmap, not in production — this page shows the assistant half of it working against a seeded audience so you can judge the experience before the connector exists.

Put this on your own site

The same counter, on your own site and your own audience

The same assistant, the same page actions, the same identified sign-in — on your Mailchimp setup instead of this one.

  1. Point the assistant at your site so your list descriptions, sending frequency and club terms become the answers it gives, as published content rather than a re-typed copy.
  2. Expose your audience as a small MCP server: a read that only ever answers for the signed-in person, and a write that changes one preference at a time.
  3. Give the preferences tool an action card so a change is one tap, not a preference centre with nine checkboxes.
  4. Wire the identity hand-off so a signed-in subscriber is recognised and their own preferences answer without them typing an address.
  5. Tell the assistant plainly not to argue with an unsubscribe — take it, confirm when it takes effect, and stop.

How to integrate Mailchimp

Frequently asked

The assistant answers from these same words — ask it any of them and compare.

How often will you actually email me?

Four times a month at most: the ready-this-week note on Thursdays, one recipe on the second Tuesday, the seasonal letter four times a year, and event dates as they are set. Club members get one dispatch note a month on top. That is the whole of it.

How quickly does an unsubscribe take effect?

On the next send. Ask here, or click the link at the foot of any email, and you are off that list before the next Thursday — not after a fortnight's processing, and with nobody writing back to ask why.

Do you share or sell the list?

No, and never have. The list is not rented, sold, swapped or passed to a partner, and the shop does not buy addresses either. If you are on it, it is because you asked to be.

Can I pause a club instead of cancelling?

Yes, any month, with no notice and no minimum. Pausing also pauses the dispatch note, so you will not get an email about a box that is not coming. Cancelling is equally immediate and there is nothing to argue about at the counter.
